About you

What is a client?

A client is an individual, couple or family who work with a therapist to alleviate symptoms, resolve problems, learn to think differently about situations or make changes.  Some clients have decided to "enter therapy," to reduce a specific symptom or troublesome family dynamic and improve satisfaction and happiness. Others may be looking for someone to talk to who is a good listener, trustworthy and trained as a mental health professional.  If you think your problem is too embarrassing to talk about, don't worry, and try not to beat yourself up, nobody's perfect. I have been talking with clients about difficult subjects for a long time, and have lived life too... everyone has ups and downs, strengths and weaknesses... ways they want to improve.

Maybe you feel so overwhelmed you have worn out your friends and family, or things are bothering you that you can't share with loved ones. A client is also someone who has the legal right to a confidential relationship with a therapist.

A client has responsibilities as well, to be patient and participate honestly, to keep appointments, and to pay the agreed fee at each session.
